I really like this! Is it one size fits all? My best friend is currently pregnant and I think she would enjoy this, but she’s many miles away from me, so I have no way to make it fit to her specifically.

    • stephanie says:

Yes! It is one size fits all. I just love mine and she will probably love you for making her one! Thanks for being in touch :-)

This is an awesome tute to make a Moby style stretchy wrap. FYI though, this type of wrap should NEVER be used to do a back carry (not that you said that mama! Just in-case your readers aren’t aware of that…) For the back carries you may find on YouTube, you will need a woven wrap, not a stretchy knit wrap…

Like I’ve mentioned before . . . please do your own research on safe ways to wear baby. I am just showing you how to make a wrap, it is important to be safe so do your homework please

This is a lovely tutorial for how to make a DIY stretchy wrap. I just wanted to point out that you should not pull down on baby’s feet after putting her in the wrap. Baby should be in a squat-seated position with the bottom slightly below the knees. This is the position a baby naturally takes when you hold her upright against you in arms. It’s also the position that promotes proper hip and spine development. Finally, just an FYI, stick to the upright facing in position. Forward facing out is bad for babies spine and hips, cradle hold can block baby’s airway, and a stretchy wrap should never be worn for back carries.

By all means folks please check out the best and safest ways to wear your baby in a stretchy baby wrap. I am by no means a baby wrap expert! I just wanted to share a post on how to make one if you choose to. I love to sew and that is what I am sharing here, please do your own homework and research safe ways to wear your baby in a wrap. Happy and safe baby wearing :-)

Hi! I love your baby wrap. It looks stylish and comfortable. How big of a baby do you think would fit in one? I have a 20 lb 11 month old son who is not walking yet, and doesn’t always like to be in a stroller when we are out and about. Do you think that is too big for the wrap? Thanks!

    • stephanie says:

Hi. I’m really no expert on baby wraps . . . so I don’t know. I love my wrap and still use it with my baby who is probably more than 20lbs by now, but if I were you, I would search online for safety tips and weight limits for stretchy baby wraps. My little one just loves to be in the baby wrap and snuggles in right away. Good Luck :-)

What a great tutorial- thanks! I’m not an experienced sewer- when you say “one way stretch knit”, does it matter which way it stretches? Lengthwise or width wise? I plan to give this a shot this week!

    • Stephanie says:

Across the grain or as you wrote width wise. The length of your yardage will be with the grain, the stretch should be across which would be the set width the fabric comes in 40 or 60inches. Does that make sense? Happy Sewing!
